Emotional Isolation

Emotional Isolation

A Poem by Poetic Beauty
"

This about a friend who chooses to keep everyone out emotionally.

"
A door stands before me, locked tight  with an unbreakable seal.
Banging upon the metal causes  an empty hollow sound
Bolt lock firmly clasped in place, chain lock tightly bound

No admittance will be allowed at the moment in time
Quiet movement heard from within, knob still locked tight
Curtains don't move, in the silent darkness of night

Heart no longer accepting love nor that of friends
chain locked keeping all emotions from invading
To avoid negative emotions, you become degrading

Walls built so high that I no longer am willing to climb
Demeaning words spewed blatantly, pushing away
An ending with hurt, leaving me no reason to stay

Wow! This is a really powerful write, and really encapsulates for me the isolation that human beings can endure, even if self-inflicted sometimes. The imagery here is that of a prison, albeit an emotional one. The line "Quiet movement heard from within......." really captures the feeling here for me, almost visually.
Great write...look forward to reading more of your words on WC...:)

We all have our walls up at times to keep from being hurt more than we already have been. The key is to know who to let past those walls. That is not always an easy task. great job on this.

great use of metaphors here yes hearts under lock and key and doors of steel Oh how we build these walls to protect us but somehow or someone someday will slither under that door and break the locks but there are times when we feel emotionally safe with the barriers intact. I get it (I think) at least thats my interpretation. great writing here Kristina!

Powerful ending. The lock is a great metaphor. Somebody is hurting. Sad. It is amazing how many muses we find around us though....
