Love this with a great deal of nostalgic nods. I'm a huge Deep Purple fan. And the way you wove Christian words within, is clever. I like racing of many genres, too. This is nicely done, Pete.

thanks for appreciating the heavenly "blast" from the past N.G. :)
Love the title, love the song, & especially I love the way you use lots of dynamic verbs that make this feel like heavenly bodies are swishing by, as we travel down this galactic highway faster & faster & faster! Nice star trip! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

thanks for being a star & taking the ride barleygirl! hugs back at ya ... :)
An incredible write, Pete. I'm guessing we're about the same age. I remember this music well. The entire package is something to admire---the artwork, video and poem. It all flows well and each complements the other. The imagery and energy are so powerful in a few well-crafted lines. I look forward to reading more of your work.

'When the deep purple falls. Over sleepy garden walls.' I have always liked this line from the opening of 'Deep Purple', an early song from the rock era. The photo is brilliant and your poem does it justice. Your Lord and Savior has provided the inspiration for a good write. I like the use of alliteration in this, especially the soft sibilance of 'sanctified spotlight' & 'superhighway for shooting stars'. There is definitely a feeling of awe in this piece that comes through clearly. Job well done, Pete.
Thanks to Kelly Scheppers for bringing it to my attention.

true. the only thing that can be bruised is our egos ...
"His very breath marking the finish like a checkered flag.
Foggy and fleeting.
Bold.
Loud.
Royal.
Deep.
... Purple ..."
The distinguished flair of this is immeasurable, and is most difficult to capture in the superlatives of any words I could say. But I will say that the hairs on my arms stood at attention as I uttered a boisterous, "Wow"!
Awesome job, Pete!

I love reading, writing, music, nature, God and feeling emotion, not necessarily in that order. To me, these things go hand in hand. My favorite writer is Henry David Thoreau. I think he was a geni.. more..
