A Poem by Quinn W

A great escape
from reality;
a gift and a curse.

Author's Note

This refers mainly to the fact that escaping from reality can be liberating and de-stressing but can potentially be dangerous if you wrap yourself up in a fictional world. "It does not due to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that." -Albus Dumbledore

Sometimes I don't like short poems becuz I find there's so much more to be said about an idea. But in the case of this brief expression of yours, I find that there are just enuf words to conjure up another whole stream of ideas in the reader's mind. These sentiments are very recognizable to those who love to read, so we are off imagining the times we got lost in the reading to escape life, which can also be "missing life" when we take it to the extreme. This is one of the best examples of saying a TON in only a few words. Always good to back on the Café & reading you again. You're an amazing writer with a unique mind for thinking of things to write about & also for expressing things in creative ways.

It truly is. It's wonderful to get involved into books and reading until the fictional world and its problems become yours. I believe curse is the perfect way to put it :) "a gift and a curse"
