A circus animal

I’m drenched in blood

That dreaded whip

Up and down

With a little flick

 

Ignoring my pain

Here it comes again

And again

 

I wish for death

But it doesn’t come yet

No it never does

I’m trapped in hell

 

I don’t want to be

Pushed into the spotlight again

With people laughing and jeering

At my pain

 

Then the darkness comes

And I leave till the tides change

wow this is great! This can be taken metaphorically or literally and either way this would be a great poem. I love the flow of this and the description. I think my favorite is the first stanza, it's just so attention grabbing, it made me want to read more! love love love this! thanks for posting :)

brillaint poem :) Taken either literally or metaphorically it is an amazing poem. The only thing is that I think that the last two lines are unneccessary or need rethinking, as it sort of break the flow of the poem. But other than that, its wonderful, thank you for sharing this poem :)

WOW!! Thats great!! Beautiful rhythm, rhyme and words- with real feeling!! I hate the circus- the animals spend their time travelling and not out in paddocks. Its a real shame :(
