she held me

she held me

A Poem by rayon hawthorne

she held me, a negative to console me, only to hold me in one place, motion to her was fear, a notion for me not to remain near, she held me, a relative to slavery ownings, a sedative, to only control thee, only way i knew how to be, free. she held me, but only to remold me, shape me as if i did not stand tall, as if i was clay, sand on the beach, in which she wanted to create love, no regard for those simple things, she held me, but only to remove what i knew to be me, to seek those knowledgeable times i live through, something installed deep within my bloodline, she held me, she held me in one place too long, shes the reason i listen carefully now, whenever those flowers i take notice of sing that loving song, she held me, makes it hard to be held again, catch twenty two right?, for every loss there is a win, she held me, so i broke free, three year war indeed, only i can love me like me, so I held me.
