Alcoholic Mystery

Alcoholic Mystery

A Poem by matelotrod
"

Do we have to believe everything they say?

"
                           Alcoholic Mystery
I need some answers and I need them fast
The national news today has left me aghast
Five glasses of wine will shorten your life
This nonsense will bring many people strife

Drinking too much will cut back your years
Are these reports invented to introduce fears?
I drink wines and whiskey I just follow my trait
If they're truthful how come I'm  seventy eight?

Scientific research can produce false hope
And some will take you down a slippery slope
I have always enjoyed relaxation with a tot
I will happily confess that I drink quite a lot.

Am I different? Surely many of us enjoy a drink
If we adhere to these rules then we're on the brink
I'll not change my habits if their assessment is right
I will be reducing my alcoholic lifespan tonight!
