The Good Man. (Poem.)

The Good Man. (Poem.)

A Poem by Eirinn
"

Poem about the Good Man.

"

He was the Good Man.

He brought us prosperity.
The people adored
Cherished
Followed
His skeletal frame into the dark
And coveted love from his brittle bones.

He was good once,
But years of ravaging
Tore his limbs
And broke his spine,
Crushing his heart
And organs
And soul.

The Good Man cannot walk.
He cannot see
Through holes so bleak and black and tranquilly broken
Blinder than the mice
Who nibble at his toenails.

The only calcium that remains.

He was the Good Man,
but people take good.
They see the “good”
And soak it all

Because the Good Man allows.
Good caused the sharing,
But sharing caused the greed.

He was the Good Man, once.
Now he bears the cross
With arms he opened for them all.
