Father You Are...

Father You Are...

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

Describing Father

"

Father you are stone
Solid, granite
A place
To let troubles free

I am planet
You are moon
Always watching
When in sky, I cannot see

You are strength
Of pillar
Always standing
When I must lean

A push, a shove
Love tough
When you know
It's what I need

Arms as iron fence
Surrounding
The whole
Of family

Bound you and I
Tight upon one heart
And on, God's honor set
As to you, a father I hope to be

I envy all who have them.
MG, what a beautiful expression of what fathers aspire to be. Especially liked the analogies of planet and moon and the iron fence. Wonderful work.

Thanks, the Lord knew what he was doing when he created the family structure.

Thank you again. Anticipating The baby breached.
My association with my father was for 13 yrs. And those were the most formative years in my life. Post that it was wilderness and getting lost in the chaos. So every word of yours I can deeply identify by missing them in my life when I probably needed most.
A good father passes you on everything he learnt from life. And that is the best inheritance and strongest protection you can think of.
