"

prompt #4: politics

"

monochrome

there are only two colors to choose from;

black and white, there is no middle ground,

the path of righteousness, or of no return

once you’ve chosen, don’t make a single sound.

pushing, shoving, gripping at each other’s throats

clashing, looking for someone to blame

oh i cannot seem to fathom why

when we are guilty, all the same.

i go about my day, though something’s amiss

bloodshed, chaos, screams of anguish

this remorse i feel, i cannot resist

for they’ve turned their backs on the house,

that has been torn apart and set aflame.
