Koi Shoulder~

Koi Shoulder~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

sleek baby

sleek

oriental geisha displaced beautifully

from samurai pulse

into ghetto brick shoes

dainty lift of chin

giving coy smile

over koi shoulder

will you be the hero who opens me rib

by rib

dive my liquid soul

for a scroll

a parchment to ink

stained

peach hips

crawl me with calligraphy dreams

pouring from between your lips

strong teeth through my stone

dig me like a bed of bones

she throws a bone

hip hop junkie bleeding lavender through musk cologne

when I unwind

can you rewind

my selector button silver spine

give me

give me

your good mind

my claws need a bed in this sordid book of lies

my spine

unhinged

the brink

take me over

spread me in a bed of clovers

pull me out

pull me through

I keep telling you this body was made to bend every rule

for broken is as broken does

grasp from the air the war torn dove

over dark roast aroma

hungry little mouth pursed

a lush berry burst

shaking sunlight out of skin for pearls

such a scary girl

with such terrible hungers

is it any wonder

every prince blunders

in a coy smile over a koi shoulder

so damn hard to hold me hold her

jasmine oil mind

bent

 inside a thousand pixilated  grinds

up in the club

where love runs the threads of my supple gloves

fist between a rock out

and a hardscape

you sure you want a girl like this

all up in your dreamscape

girl never meant for every day human consumption

though it is the deadly assumption

inside that coy smile

that lethal

archetype guile

I've loved this poem since I read it first...a woman desired and desiring to be loved...yet knowing she is not the ideal of every man...desired but resigned to love on her terms...desired but believing there be few to stand the muster of the dance...few prepared to submit to her kind of love...yet wishing...knowing all would love to make their play...all would kneel and submit but few would stand in the power of the gale...when loved your way...many would wither but none would forget...and only those fearless few with hunger raw and talons drawn are worthy to make you explode into a blaze of stars...
Demure and demonic in the same sigh...
unforgettable...

Beautifully abstract imagery that puts me in a trance every time. As always... pure genius.

Charming opening:

"sleek baby
sleek
oriental geisha displaced beautifully
from samurai pulse
into ghetto brick shoes
dainty lift of chin
giving coy smile
over koi shoulder"

Deepening:

"will you be the hero who opens me rib
by rib
dive my liquid soul
for a scroll
a parchment to ink
stained
peach hips"

and

"when I unwind
can you rewind
my selector button silver spine
give me
give me
your good mind"

These lines remind me of the lines from a Stonesy-rhythmed song of mine called "13th Psalm": "Words to live by flow through mind/born of Spirit clear unsigned/Scroll your meaning line by line/springing from your sacred spine."

The part about "calligraphy dreams" reminds me of Greenaway's film The Pillow Book.

"I keep telling you this body was made to bend every rule
for broken is as broken does
grasp from the air the war torn dove
over dark roast aroma
hungry little mouth pursed
a lush berry burst
shaking sunlight out of skin for pearls
such a scary girl
with such terrible hungers
is it any wonder
every prince blunders"

Again, the recurrent sense of the alien Species f**k, arousing unquenchable deadly desire. Leading back to unfit for "human consumption," as if the only way to portray the poet's performance art broken torn arousals is in a candy-colored horrorshow, ending in a praying mantis devouring the sex mate.

Well, in the automythos of the poet being a "hip-hop Buddhist with anger issues," the "solution" if one is sought, surely points to the eye of the hurricane. After all, if Buddha-Mind is unfazed by the snarling demon Lord of Death, the same holds for the shredding writhe of the terrible scary grrrl hellcat.

"my claws need a bed in this sordid book of lies
my spine
unhinged
the brink
take me over
spread me in a bed of clovers
pull me out
pull me through"

This strikes me poignant, hurricane to eye, maelstrom to firm hand, demon diva to Lord Calm.

The closing lines, bookending the top coy/koi again, puts the scenario again in the arena of martial desire challenge. That's only half the battle, tho'. The word "desire" anagrams to "id seer," "i.d. seer," and "reside." Eye of the Storm. Buddha-Mind space informing desire. Stillness informing the sex war. Sagacity sheathing sex magic.

Prince Siddartha's contemplative thunder enjoys the lightning femme alien wonder's "lethal archetype guile."

There is also a sly and wicked sense of humor beneath this martial artist mating dance as well.

Such subtle metaphorical expressions that speak of raw passion and pain, the lines captivated me from the very first and made me completely dumbfounded in the end! What a classic, rich tapestry of ambiguity and thwarted lust you have woven throughout the thematic bend of this unique and outstanding piece! The imagery of the Geisha and the koi shoulders, the metaphors of terrible hunger and human consumption carry the wrath, the vulnerability, the mystery and stupor of human desire, and how powerfully and evocatively have you portrayed them through your brilliant lines!

The enjambment here:

will you be the hero who opens me rib
by rib

is wonderful. The break in the line can almost be heard, like someone opening her ribs one by one.

I love these lines as well:

dive my liquid soul
for a scroll
a parchment to ink
stained

The lines seem to sing
spring
from the screen.

' .. lethal archetype guile .. ' most certainly.

A rambling back and forth in time and thought, passion and a come hithering into a whirlpool of what's to be had or not. Your words converge then splay, at once beguiling then, a rolling away of pretence.

This is more than a koi message, this is a signal!

'I keep telling you this body was made to bend every rule
for broken is as broken does
grasp from the air the war torn dove
over dark roast aroma
hungry little mouth pursed
a lush berry burst
shaking sunlight out of skin for pearls
such a scary girl
with such terrible hungers
is it any wonder
every prince blunders
in a coy smile over a koi shoulder'

Your phrases are word fighting, and there can only be one winner ..

I am having flashbacks to the sunset strip , ( which i may have to now refer to as a "Koi" pond ) so many girls who lost all sense of who and what they are . . .

This is a magnificent journey into desire and dreams come to stunning life... Both profound and provocative, you weave a darkness around our thoughts and intentions. This line just jumped out at me (as did so many others): "crawl me with calligraphy dreams..."
