Do You Anchor When the Seabed's Made Of Bones?

Do You Anchor When the Seabed's Made Of Bones?

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

There is a taste to your words

a fragrance in the dip of your eyelids

when you look out at the vast sea

I think you are perfume

I think you are mist

the spray of saltwater

caught on my eyelashes

you are a lure

and I, a simple sunfish

shedding scales

and I think,

but I was the siren here

on this dock

a rock in my fist

for the boat

freed from anchor

leaving me

parched

on the shores

my gills trembling

hooked

on the way love is spelled out

in a bottle;

my note will catch on whale's song

breaching

as Jonah casts his line

one more time

for the bones

at the bottom

of the sea

and I turn to condensation

on a mad man's liquor bottle

when i read your poems the shallow waters of my brain are stired and it gets all murky --like a good trip of joint. and when i start to write review the thoughts condenses. lol. really! your poems are paintings, i fail to describe(if i do, it'll be gebberish! .hehe) but can feel it deeply. think of it as compliment of an ignorant mind. :)

Oh how we all wish to be the anchor>> Staunch in our stance>> Cajoling and inveigling upon the masses of the sea>> But it is not so sweet when one holds that power over us>>when we twirl around the spool of there finger>>especially when we desire otherwise>>But who could weave such relatable feelings in such a twisted majestic fashion?>>

stunning, not to overt imagery, but the attention you draw to otherwise unimportant things, "the sun fish shedding it scales, the bottle on the shore, the fish gasping for air" it all really captures a tone of desolation and suclusion (i dont know if that is what you were going for, but its what i feel)

Selene,

I imagine a siren who maybe isn't use to these swelling feelings and I sense vulnerability within her from the written words he wrote. Silky is your story telling and it unfolds for us as sweet as strawberries in the summer. This poem seems to be of a different style from your others yet it is just as compelling and beautiful. I admire your pen.

Everytime I read you dear friend, I simply pause, and sigh...

what more can one simply do... any words from me would simply cling for a moment, then fall off, like dust from a star that is shooting through our consciousness, dwindling down upon void and the rich applause of eternity...

You are a wonder of miracle.

Selene, as always i find your writing mesmerizing - many thoughts , trips to take with you .Some I grasp easily others not so easily.
Doesn't matter though as it is true beauty of words and images.
A sunfish , love, Jonas casting his net , sea-mist and tasty words.

You paint with words. A master. This poem is one of your most beautiful, Selene.

Your poetry is like a roller coaster of imagery, the ultimate play of words and feelings.

I can't pretend to know exactly what I'm reading, but I don't think I need to. What the eyes fail to comprehend, the soul understands quite well. This was an absolutely fantastic write.

"And I turn to condensation/on a mad man's liquor bottle"

Genius line.
