Thimbleful of Thumbelina~

Thimbleful of Thumbelina~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

This is my thimble

It is tiny

But large enough to hold

A thousand pieces of confetti

And a single wedding band

My life was traded for food

I can understand hunger

What is a barleycorn

After all

To a starving woman

I grew a walnut cradle

From the bark of a tree

Being tiny

I could never get warm

Except in a c curve

Around my own body

I, small

Vulnerable

It was toad and his entourage

Who came first

To test my tiny fists

But I had the butterfly peel her magik

From the inside

Of my right wrist

And the koi fish to the rescue

Leaping from the base of my skull

Swallowing old toad down

In a spray of blood

On a lily pad for eons

Adrift on a stream

While men went about forging hard things

And leaving magik to scribbles on the rocks

For study

Under spectacles

I was pleasantly undisturbed

In a rip van wrinkle theory

Until a stag beetle staggered by

But spat me quickly back into my skin

When his compatriots

Covered their eyes;

Even beetles have a sense of inherent

Taboo

Winters were the most bitter

Frost hands

Icicles in my hair

The field mouse found me frozen to his door

Took pity

Pulled me through the straw

To dream near the fireplace

Where a swallow reclined as well

Healing broken wings I caressed

into solid forms, each and every night

And things were good

Until the spring thaw

When mole peeked his nose

Through the earth

And blindly

Snatched

At my awakening fertility

Hidden beneath swallow’s wing

We took flight

To a land

Where Thumbelina’s were the norm

And here I found a wedding band

Placed it in my thimble

With every scrap of confetti

Covered in scribbles

Of stories in fragments

Waiting to happen

And no, I married no prince

For princes are fairy tales

And Thumbelinas

Are, sadly

The norm

One of my favourite tales of childhood, the tiny girl asleep in the walnut shell, adrift on the lily-pad, escaping two bad marriages and knowing the soul-mate swallow who showed her the path to freedom... fairy prince (Meh)

I loved your metaphoric twists which brought such life to the archetypes:
I had the butterfly peel her magik

From the inside

Of my right wrist

And the koi fish to the rescue

Leaping from the base of my skull

Swallowing old toad down

In a spray of blood

Mythic poetry, she is small and yet protected by butterflies, fieldmice and fish...this seems to hold a symbolic meaning for what it is to be a woman in this culture. I sense a connection to nature. Beautiful writing, as always.

a demonic form of sexual immorality is what caused some of the problem,,and I know that personally, so stop blaming michelle or greg..it was one penis and one vagina out of control and not knowing what is right or wrong is what it was...not to mention pamela...this is bullshit..blaming spouses for two sexually immoral people who did not do what was right..

demonic sexual immorality is what the cause of some of the marriage break down that I know of..drugs...and moving that far away from his kids indicates more freedom was wanted then seeing his own children..this is getting old, dry and wrong to blame the wife that was why you did it..old indeed..

stop blaming spouses for being sexually immoral, s****y and not keeping it in the pants, stop doing that..it is not accurate first of all...it is getting old to keep blaming the spouse for divorce or adultery,,like melacholy hand maiden,,no it was sexual immorality, a coke addiction and not controlling onself and working out the marriage as they should have DONE..stop blaming others..

kerry is comparing this to indicate two bad marriages? I do not agree with kerrys view that someone had a bad marriage personally, I think he was sexually immoral for one..had problems controlling an erection for two, wanted more freedom to do what he wanted to do without interruption 500 miles away..I see the man as being selfish and self centered since I have dealt with behavior directly..two sides to every story, but damn I see the mrs side..most certainly..

and is this a poem in reference of escaping two bad marriages? what is a bad marriage? someone whining they dont get enough time alone away from their kids to post writing when they want too? or more freedom?

i think the spray of blood is not needed personally...for one..and princes do exist...I am married to one..he does not cheat on me, beat me, he takes care of his family well, and hard worker...
