Girl Babylon~

Girl Babylon~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole
"

~one of those uneven nights~

"

Now

That you’ve coaxed me from my shell

What will you do

With a girl

Whose arms unfold into eight distinct notes

Plucking atomic love from the nucleus of matter

And does it matter

How I bend my music to the will of the tides

While a cat’s cradle undulates by

With the threads of a modern day Moses

Who will one day find his mind inside a bottle

Of hard liquor

At the end of skid row

In tow

To his holy insanity

A Madonna dipped in hemlock

Following the pound of his staff

Against the eventide of endz

Blaring through the windows of dirty love

Commercials for extenz

Tipped the top hat of reason

To good ol’ Abe Lincoln rolling over in his grave

A stage in his eyes

Reflecting silk

Spinners pouring

Through the edges of his coffin

While I while away the underbelly of this final grace

My Thai limbs drenched in gold

Thighs around the sorrel belly of the sky

Eight arms in rubies wrapped around the waist

Of Wounded Knee

Atop, the Mesa at the third pluck of the string

A third eye in jade opens

On the Book of Revelations

From my mouth, glitter and confetti

From my palms, the open wounds of misrepresentation

My dance begins on a cloud

The Hopi Nation go about their day

Kachina dolls at eight points

Bodies pour out of a sandstorm

On knees

With locust eyes

Dust lies

I dance

Kali at my hip in steel

Pandora in my belly

Lilith in my sway

The w***e in my smile

Giving good word. . . .

“As ye think shall ye be” . . . .

And the corona of the sun flares

Burning words

Against the struggling atmosphere

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH

Now that you’ve coaxed

A thousand of us from our shells

What will you do

With the messengers

Killing the beautiful delivery

Does not make the message vanish

Now does it

Only leaves another stain of Cain

On the patchwork soul of Man

I wonder at times how such a tiny girl like you can harbor so much soul.

My Thai limbs drenched in gold
Thighs around the sorrel belly of the sky
Eight arms in rubies wrapped around the waist
Of Wounded Knee
Atop, the Mesa at the third pluck of the string
A third eye in jade opens
On the Book of Revelations
From my mouth glitter and confetti
From my palms the open wounds of misrepresentation
My dance begins on a cloud

You're Pandora's Box, my lovely woman.

You are complex, where I am simple. You are metaphoric, where I am direct. You are intelligible, where I am raw.In writing you are my nemesis. You write without rhym.I can not think without it.

I seen a vision of a tiny asian belly dancer.Doesn't go together, I know.
She follows a drunken blind man with a cane taunting him with the pleasures that he can not witness due to his own weakness and self betrayal.

That's a lot of knowledge in 60+ lines. I was about to say that my faves are "killing the beautiful delivery does not make the message vanish, but gosh, there are just too many hard hitting ones to count. I truly enjoyed this read, and I'm not just saying that to be cliche':-)

Feeling quite politically correct, eh? "A Madonna dipped in hemlock" -- what a portrait you paint with squares of visions thrusting into our psyches until I do feel mentally fucked sometimes when I read your work. *standing ovation* You've done it again, dear one. Bravo!

Selene sometimes I think you are so deep I am not intelligent enough to discern the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The tapestry of pain and enlightenment such as listed Abe Lincoln wounded knee Our Indian heritage along by the book of Revelation.I wonder if we can look at the Bible as a history book where the winners write the history. We kill everything we dont understand or that is so different to us.As you say a stain by Cain

Kind of thought provoking, I loved it.

Bodies pour out of a sandstorm
On knees
With locust eyes
Dust lies

Amazing words here. I really enjoyed reading this.
So very well written. The descriptivness is wonderful.

This is one of my favorites by you. I love everything about it--everything in-between the lines, the messages and themes, the inherent negativity--it speaks to me. I only wish I could form my poetry like this, but one can only express oneself to the specific degree of his/her creativity. This is a maze of religious rebellion, if you will. A self-appointed antithesis, "As ye think shall ye be." (Or such is how I interpret it.) Of course, that's only a faction of the themes here, many of which I can't begin to unravel without tainting them with guesswork opinions.

Great!
