Ignorance Is Bliss

Ignorance Is Bliss

A Poem by Sirius King
"

while writing this piece, the "place" i was referring to was more close to home...but now i realize its a world wide pandemic

"

I live in a place …

Where intelligence

Is dissed

And ignorance

Is bliss

Where refusing

To be forced into a box

Is taking a questionable risk

And if you

Step out of place

All eyes will shift

Where accepting the life

You’ve been assigned

 Is just a formality

And you’re constantly being

Criticized for your individuality

I live in a place …

Where you have to

Play your role

The stage is set

So forget about

Your own goals

 Do what you’ve been told

And you just might make it

But until you do

You’ll have to fake it

So secretly read up

Ingest all you can

The only way to

Escape ignorance

Is to devise an

 Intelligent plan

I was very surprised. The flow of this poem was so powerful. I could just hear a strong voice pounding the meaning of the words in my mind. It's beauty that you've created with your words. And your message was in fact very truthful (: Very very nice!!

Like Medicaid. It's much easier for "some" to accept a hand out than it is to face reality itself. Playing victim....its has no right or wrong to it.

Yeah, I have lived in that place too. Both literally, and more figuratively, when speaking about the world in general. There is a lot of power behind your words. I think this poem would be wonderful as spoken word. The message: spot on. If you want to not just survive, but thrive, it is going to be a fight. Ignorance may be bliss to the ignorant but freedom is all in the intelligence. Nice work on this, my friend.

so a beautiful mind is pushed about growing up/(pushing out) all his/her dreams are knocked and mocked by the ignorance of those who seek not to try for their dreams so other than face their own environment they'll shunt and shake that, that stands out
in envy of what could be achieved.

This is so "real" and that is what makes your writing so intriguing. It seems to be that no matter where we call a place "home', we will always be judged for our individuality. That is unfair.

yes, its very unfair,,, but u have to fight it, intelligently ;-)
Splendid! It feels like you are hacking at some evil entity with short, but powerful pieces. The poem has a strong rebellious tone. And I like that.
