Minor Predicament

Minor Predicament

A Chapter by Shea McWilliams

03/30/16

Dear Hannah,

It’s been a while but nothing’s changed. We text everyday but I don’t really see him that often.

However, I’ve got myself in a bit of a predicament.

As you know, Gabe plays video games in his free time. I may have made the mistake of saying that I could probably win if I were to play him.

Anyways, he took my statement seriously and turned into a challenge. I know, I know, me and my big mouth.

Here’s the problem: I’ve never played Call of Duty. I don’t know the concept at all. I’ve never even used a PS4 controller.

HELP!

So on Friday, I’m going over to his house to play video games. I’d freak out more if Caleb (my brother) wasn’t going with me. But there’s going to be other people there too and IT’S HIS HOUSE!

I lied, I’m freaking out, Hannah. My heart is beating so loud is hurts and I feel legitimately nauseous.

It’s only Wednesday.

I have two more days of this crap and I might die before then.

And don’t even get me started on our messages. That boy is so cocky, it’s ridiculous. He doesn’t even pretend to save my pride or feelings. He said he’d crush me. And my pride refuses to accept that he probably will.

I see him after school now. He stands over where Sarah and Jonah are so it’s only natural I go over there, right?

I don’t know anymore.

Tell me, oh wise one, why do boys make life so complicated?

Update you on my unstable condition tomorrow.
