Madness

Madness

A Poem by Siddhartha

Madness is like gravity, it keeps sinking in

Loaded with lead, it keeps pinching in

The more you duck, the more it consumes you

The more you move away, the more is it glued

Madness is like wind, it spreads as wildfires do

Suffused with insanity, it radiates warmth too

In a world of mediocrity, it is strangely tempting

And for a weary poet, it’s temptingly comforting

Madness is like love, it never loses hope

It keeps on seducing, exhorting you to elope

Societal conventions, it doesn’t give a damn

Led by its insanity, it feels no shame

Madness is like wine, it makes you a drunk

The senses desert, the body becomes numb

While the eyes, they take in all the details

And the mind, past this mortal world, it sails

So much I wish, that you would see what I see

For while you're all sane, there's still madness in me...

There are parts of this poem that have huge potential - for example, the flow of the 3rd and 4th verses is better than the 1st two.... I think perhaps you could make some vocabulary changes in the 1st verses.

Also, of the last two lines, the final one is PERFECT, but the penultimate is clunky and reads less smoothly than some of the other lines in the poem.

I hope you're not offended. You're a very good writer. I just think this poem could be better.

the ugly madness is societal constraints that chain the imagination . the drone of negativity from "a world of mediocrity" that , personally, only fans my fires to be more .

excellence my friend .

you paint a great picture of madness...it sounds very inviting, in fact I think I may be half way there. A good subject, penned in excellent style. Thankyou.
