The Poison

The Poison

A Poem by William
"

some would rather die than live in shame.

"

Pride and Wrath, whilst they hide hostility,

exchanging lies in stiff formality.

poisonous half-truths like weapons wounding

whilst insults strike with harsh brutality.

Wrath-ful anger, violence acclaiming,

his ire, his hate, patience abrading,

and he doth strike Pride, with vicious intent,

pain and fear as hate masquerading.

the performance repeated sows resent,

no thing in sight doth help end her torment,

pain persists, agony no thing will allay,

decision ‘tis made, the sky doth lament.

poison courses through her veins, the life of decay,

her last breath doth spun, whilst her heart gives way.

Wow, I really like this. It kind of reminds me of old poetry (although that's kind of a bad way to describe it) like during the Edgar Allen Poe era and such. If that makes no sense just ignore that whole comment :P

Anyway, I love the way you wrote this. The structure and the rhyming is pretty much perfect, as is the emotion behind it. It sounds so real when you're reading it, as if it's actually happening nearby.

You've definitely got talent as a writer, this poem proves it.

Well it feels like there's alot going on but it's all occurring behind a curtain I can't see through like when you're in the audience and things occur back stage with the curtains down. Also the archaisms seemed out of place hindering the flow of the words between them. The poem does have a vintage feel to it, notwithstanding the latter criticism, and I like that about it.

Pride and wrath definitely go together. Anger will take in pride refusing to admit wrong and lead destruction to all that crosses its path. Very powerful and I love the language usage =]

About
Hello, my name is William and I'm a write-aholic. My first poem ever was written in January 2009, so I'm still pretty rough. Nothing is perfect, but I'm addicted to writing, and I do enjoy doing it.. more..
