I told my self

I told my self

A Poem by marie

I told myself
I had something good
So I stood up tall
And held my chin up high

As the fire came up all around me
I found a mirror
And looked myself in the eye
It will get better I kept sayin

I watched the walls collapse
I watched the trees fall around me
I told myself it will get better
I just have to wait

This is my last chance
Have to tell myself the truth
So I found a mirror
Saw the girl lookin back at me

Her eyes where dead
Seemed her soul was gone
But I knew she was so scared
So I looked in the mirror and took a breath

No more lie I told myself
You have to run
Cause you can no longer hide
Little girl run away I told myself

If you run today
You may have a tomorrow
So I told myself
Find a life brand new

No more lies
No more fear
You got to stand on your own two feet
Cause no one cares

Your all you've got
Time to run
And begin again
I told myself

So I ran
Began again
No more lies and hiding
Because I told myself
