Dark

Dark

A Poem by marie

The darkness closes in
Letting fear enter in
The memories encompassing me

Of how I could never help
Of how I only added to your stress
Of how I saw and didn't warn

I make slashes on my legs
They remind of each failure
Of each Tim I fell short

This first one here
Was so long ago
When I knew he would hurt her

This latest one is kind of ahead of time
Because I know it will hurt them
I want to tell them I'm sorry but I know I can't

I take the knife into my hand
And say as if in a dream
One more pain then I go

I go to the place without sorrow
Without strife
Without pain

Quite a dangerous place to go . . . it's always the most deadly when there's nothing left to feel
