Turritopsis dohrnii

Turritopsis dohrnii

A Poem by Soren

For those that long for immortality

You need look no further than the sea

There lives the immortal jelly fish

If one you should perchance squish

or by tooth penetrate

It will simply regenerate

an identical clone it will create

reverting to its infant state

to grow again a new life

until further strife

or when its sick, old or hurt

causes it to revert

on and on for eternity

a true entity of immortality

immortality? not sure of that.... at some point we all need to leave this earth...and pass on memories...and let the next generation take over....by the way jelly fish sting like crazy, so their life, in truth, does not appeal to me.... but a very original poem!

Thanks Betty for the review and comment. I agree I wouldn't want to live forever.
There is absolutely no situation in which I would be tempted to bite a jellyfish. Having felt their stings more than once, I would make every effort to avoid the slimy buggers. Let them be immortal. By themselves.

I am not sure I would want to live forever and it makes you wonder, what does that jellyfish think about things. Though I am sure that much undersea doesn't change though it has lately. Whales washing up on shore at an alarming rate...some say because of sonar used to locate and build wind turbines in the sea. I really don't know but something is happening. Maybe the Jellyfish will decide living forever isn't worth it.
