Could Not Stay

Could Not Stay

A Poem by StacyPerry

For all the times we've said goodbye,
For all the times I've sat and cried
For all the times you've held my hand,
For all the times my heart would expand
For all the times you said I was "the one",
For all the years we had so much fun
For all the years we played this game,
For all the years I felt the shame
For all the years we had been friends,
For all the years and now it ends
For all the times I tried to hurt you not,
For all the times you wished I'd rot
I gather now we both have our way,
I loved you, you loved me, we both hated to part yet we both could not stay.

Sad. This is very honest. It happens like this at times. It doesn't matter how much you love the other person in your life, life itself gets in the way.

A genuine and heart felt write. The repeating of the live "for all the times" only strengthened the poem for me. Thoroughly enjoyable and thank you for sharing it with me.

A poem of memory and thankfulness. Sometime takes years to be thankful for the love and friendship we once had. I like the flow and the story in your words. I like the ending. A excellent poem.

A very deeply sad poem but sometimes love isn't enough. You did a very good job in your poem writing about this situation. I think you did a great job.

"One for All" would be a good title for this one! Not that it resembles The Three Musketeers...lol I think the repetition worked quite well here.
