He Claimed Our Burdens

He Claimed Our Burdens

A Poem by Starr Alexis
"

"He Claimed Our Burdens" is a poem I wrote in the summer of 2015 at Twin Pines Camp, Conference, and Retreat Center.

"

All was silent,

but our thoughts sang like a choir
as we wrote down the things we wanted to send to Him up above.
Through our thought process
it felt like He was holding my hand.
One by one,
we stood up and walked towards the flame,
then threw the paper of what was in our hearts and minds into the fire
When all were done,
no longer the same,
every flame had flashed brighter momentarily.
It was as if He, Himself had reached into the blaze
and claimed what we had written,
the burdens we had wanted him to take,
our heartache.
I could feel Him there,
telling me that I was fearfully and wonderfully made,
regardless of everything that had heavily weighed.

I believe it was then that I'd become closer to God.

Such a wonderful piece. It has such a lovely rhythm to it. The message has a great touch to it. great job!

The message of this is lovely, and the rhyming couplet at the end brings it to such a pretty close. I have the visual benefit of having seen this at a retreat before, and it's indeed very powerful. Well done.
