Gibel

Gibel

A Poem by streetrose

Abed alone on a blanket of nitre

Only the scavengers try to find her

The once youthful smile has faded away

colorful memories dimming to gray

Her tears and her blood have covered the vine

Her heart and her spirit were broken in twine

Cloaked in a robe of silvery mist

She never was needed, and never was missed

Her heart still yearns for the one who betrayed her

Knife in her hand with the locket he gave her

crimson handprints on an ivory dress

Forever now trapped in death’s cool caress

Alone in her safe place, she’ll never be found

Her spirit still screaming, not making a sound
