He Drove Away The Autumn

He Drove Away The Autumn

A Poem by streetrose

It was he who turned the autumn to winter

The colorful leaves withering to grey in his presence

Instead of snow, there were  hailstorms

Instead of thunderstorms, there were monotonous waves of sleet

The skies grew colder, the earth greyer

The bird stopped chirping in the morning and dusk

His cold words freezing sunshine’s ray

Christmas lights lost their cheery glow

Childish innocence was replaced with resignation

With fear, with sadness, with resentment

Yes, it was he who drove away the warmth of autumn

For fear of losing me
