Fatal Fear

Fatal Fear

A Poem by streetrose

Hands shake behind a stone-stiff spine
Smiles fall and shatter
Feet retreat slowly along the pavement
Stubborn tilt of the chin and clenched jaw
She will not let you win that easily
Inner doubt and secret turmoil
Concrete composure for a feather foundation
Denied tears locked into a sequestered vault
Words upon an empty page
Yet still, you cannot see her
For her fatal mask is flawless

Excellent piece of courageous display detailed to perfection.
For me, the last two lines elevate it from a good to great read.

Thanks for sharing.
