The Shepherd's Fatal Crook

The Shepherd's Fatal Crook

A Poem by streetrose

The nightmares have won the war
Humans have returned to mother earth
Their minds still immersed in slumber
Facts falling upon deaf ears
Fear and ignorance run rampant
There is might in numbers
But only to a certain extent in life
We are herds of sheep
Ignorant, gullible, easy to manipulate
Controlled by a select few
Raised and nurtured for slaughter
Voices of reason are promptly silenced
Brains weaken and go into hiding
Intelligence takes to the underground
Hiding in fear of complete annihilation
If everyone is thinking alike
Then someone must not be thinking
Until finally, the self becomes extinct
