Mystery

Mystery

A Poem by Stuart Douglas
"

From the 2007 album Eden Slips Away

"

She's like rain

on the last day of summer

and she don't complain.

Maybe she should

She moves my way

eclipsing all others

but I am dreaming, and she is leaving

as time is standing still

She's a mystery

a curiosity

She's a mystery

Evening comes

but she can't remember

the last time she felt

beautiful

She screams her lines

from a stage full of clutter

like a southern belle, in a fairy tale

where the hero always gets the girl

She's a mystery

a curiosity

She's a mystery

And life never gives

what you want, when you want it

finding love when it's too late to choose

She's a mystery

a curiosity

She's a mystery

And I'm down on my knees

down on my knees

down on my knees
