Numb

Numb

A Poem by Tamme

I once dreamt of candles shining through your eyes,

I followed the echo of shrieking cries.

There was the ghost looking for the things never found

Next to the wilting flower who loved to hug the ground.

I whispered my secrets to the fuzzy bunny

Who laughed his a*s off like life was funny

The drums would begin to beat like crazy

Quickening my heart, then things became hazy

All the while the venomous melody played,
Fear pounded as my memory began to fade.

Nobody mentioned how I had been blown away

It tends to happen to those who chose to stay

Maybe that's when I found my shame
What was once fun was never a game.

In the snow, I laid accepting that moment as my last

Shivering and alone, the storm ended, clouds passed

For the first time, I genuinely looked at the sky,

I found it to be where my dreams truly lie.

I thank the stars for guiding my desire
Igniting my candles, I began to feel my fire.

You may come and go, I may even go and come

But never again will I be left completely numb...

I enjoyed reading this. It is cleverly laced with both wit and serious soul searching. A breakthrough journey - quite envigorating for you it seems.

Great emotion on this one! It made me laugh but at the same time it struck me as a serious poem.
