Snowy Misery

Snowy Misery

A Poem by Tamme

The glistening snow

The crystal covered trees

A lovely show

Who wouldn't this please?

Me! That's who!

My car slides wacky ways,

"Stay on the street, you!"

But into the ditch it strays!

I start out stumblin' home

In this slushy yucky mess.

The road shines like chrome

Why the hell did I wear a dress?!

Arms full of bags,

Muscles tired and weak

My moral drags

And my shoes start to leak

My nose is running

The boogers form icicles

My bag breaks open

S**t! I broke the jar of pickles

Off somewhere I hear

The sounds of kids playing

A reason for cheer,

I used to love sleighing

Happy thoughts are lost

Replaced by fear and distress

As snowballs are tossed

Ducking for cover is useless

"I know that's you Tom!

Along with the rest of the clan!

I'm calling your mom!

That goes double for Mike and Stan!"

I round my corner

My sweet home in sight

Can't wait to get warmer

And settle in for the night.

I search my purse

The key ring with a star

This never-ending curse!

My keys are in the car!

The meter isn't letter perfect ... it's not bad ... just not perfect. But ya know what? I don't care! This poem was fabulously superb. It entertained this old curmudgeon beyond words. I am SO with you on this and I chuckled the whole way through! Thank you so much for sharing this and adding some levity and cheer to my day.

This goes into my favorites.

Ehehehehhe...the White Death...that was a good dig, Rain.

Anyway, one spelling thing: moral should be morale. :) Other than that, this was kinda fun. It was kind of mopey and whiny, but there were these little bits of bittersweetness...like your thoughts about how you used to love to go sleighing. I think I've had some of the exact same thoughts on winter...perhaps it is from living so close by...although you guys get slammed so much harder than we do, and we're not even an hour away from each other.

Now I'm just babbling. This was pretty good, and the rhyming was awesome. Good job.

Rofl..
I'm sorry, but the whole thing had such a familar wifely ring to it. You are the woman in front of me in the middle lane going thirty miles an hour, afraid to cross that crusty mound that divides fast and slow lanes. lol Sometimes I think my wife is only confortable driving on the salt plain's of Utah. I never seen anyone watch the weather channel as much as her..looking for the "WHITE DEATH." I'm saving this for Sue to look at. She will sympathize with you. This was just a really light fun read. I really enjoyed your perspective, because it was all so true. Thanks for the laugh. Rain..

This is quite amusing as I have been through this type of situation before. Of course, it is not amusing at the time. Thank you for sharing - very timely this season. Nice job!

Hahaha I loved this! I both love and hate the snow... I love the first night it snows when it covers the ground and it's actually white and fluffy then I hate it the next day when it's frozen and brown/black... for instance the day before yesterday due to my brother's wonderful park job of my car it was stuck on black ice and while I was trying to move it was burning rubber which caused 4 very large painters to come out of the church they were working on and they had to push me out of my spot lol...

Great write... and since it's snowing out now I'm thinking I'm going to go play in it while I still like it... 20 and still a kid...hmmm. Hope you're having a wonderful evening : )
