"A Writer"

My whole life up 'till now when I thought of being a writer I thought of getting paid to write or being recignized for a piece of work but in reading I've found "A writer" is part of a person, not their professoin or label.

I always wanted to be "A writer" but in my necesity to write, I am "A writer" and if I got paid for it. it's almost like i would be selling out (keeping in mind this is not the case for everyone.)

In my mind I thought of meeting people and when they asked what I did I would say "I'm a writer". It would be all I was, and even if i was starving I would be happy because i followed my dream. Even if very few people new my name I would be content that anybody knew my name at all. I would be "A Writer".

And independant, not relying in anyone else. But even if that never happens, if I make my parents happy and go to a four year college, become a psycologist. I'm still "A writer". because that is WHO I am not WHAT I am.

And I can deal with that.
