Always an AngelA Poem by TardisbabyAs always, criticisms are encouraged.Wonderland, out of reach Drifting tantalizingly near Tangibly, this world reveals Beauty to move you to tears Forbidden land, I cannot reach The voices made that clear Just as the snake in Eden I taint it as I come here Mother of Earth, bringer of war, I serve you dutifully Perfecting giving to people What you gratefully gave to me I have the voice of none else but yours My soul dirt awaiting the sod For I’ll always be the angel, and never be the God, oh lord I’ll always be the angel, and never be the God. Sinfully I start to sing A song newly born The voices all scold me for on your rose I am the thorn They take away that confident, little girl that I once knew Hoping that when all was gone I’d crawl back home to you Mother of Earth, bringer of war, I serve you dutifully Perfecting giving to people What you gratefully gave to me Can’t I have a say In the piper that I pay But the voices attack promptly And I’m quiet another day. When the words on the page Start to become my own And the thoughts start to pool And they overflow Keep your head in the clouds Until those voices fade away For you’ll always fear it true And deep in wonderland It grows on you Mother of Earth, bringer of war, Look at me pitifully Sharing secrets of glory Never revealed to me I cannot bear to hear my voice My soul as useless as it is odd For I am no angel But I’ll never be a God. © 2012 Tardisbaby |
