A Matter of Life and DeathA Poem by FoxxThe struggle between life and death, personified
Death beckons me,
As Life holds me back with his razored hand, Glaring daggars through my heart, Allowing blood to seep through my thin shirt. Life tortures me, Making Death's offer more and more tempting. I must not succumb, But his hand moves closer. Battling Life gets harder and harder, As he preys upon my growing weakness. Death's warm, loving hand creeps out once more, Alluring me to submit. I must resist! Yet with a life of pain and turmoil ahead, I accept my inevitable fate, And follow Death to his realm. Death pulls me close, Rescuing me from Life's encasing grip, Reassuring me I matter, Keeping me safe from Life's cruel testimony.
