The Day That Will Never Come

The Day That Will Never Come

A Poem by Foxx

Bent and broken
Scattered and torn
Alone here I lay
Waiting for the day that will never come

Heartbreak ends lives,
Sucking beings into the endless void of sorrow,
Holding me hostage,
Leaving me waiting for the day that will never come

Succumbing to fear,
Hiding away,
I hope for a better day
The day that will never come

Pleading for help,
Yet met by silence
I must keep praying
Praying for the day that will never come

Overruled by the few
Oppressed by all,
I lay here still,
Waiting for the day that will never come

Apparently the speaker hasn't totally given up hope, but most of the poem has the sense of defeat and depression. "The day that will never come" is now a vague thing to one who is seemingly struggling just to hold on. Not your basic upper here.
