Silence, Please

Silence, Please

A Poem by Allie :)
"

Am I the only person that gets uber pissed when someone thinks that the moment of silence is a joke?

"

A moment of silence,

everyone stands.

Some people pretend to pray

others join hands.

A moment of silence

at an air force base,

for a soldier to pray

for God's every-present grace.

For some people,

this moment

is no more than a joke.

But I know

the power of silence.

The respect

and honor it holds.

For more

than the men and women

who have died

for my freedom.

I dedicate

these seconds of silence

to all of the people who hurt,

who refuse

to give up anyway.

I dedicate

these meager seconds of my life

to the ones

who refused

to let the evil mouths

of conformity

talk them away

from what is right,

and what they so solidly believe.

A moment of silence.

A minute of my time.

is the least I can do

to say

thank-you.

Nicely done. Its good to know that some people still understand why we have moments of silence. Great job!

Applause, Applause. Brilliantly put. Some people don't get it . You obviously do. Well penned.

That's really good. At out school, we have a moment of silence, but no one is ever really silent. :(
