my future, my heart

my future, my heart

A Poem by the tipsy writer

I’ve given my future to the west

To the grand possibilities of tomorrow.

To sunny days and rainy days

Endless drives through wheat country

And grapes growing on vines.

But I left my heart in Maine

On the rocky shores of midcoast bays

In forests beneath subtle giants

Haunted, archaic, and knowing

Whispering secrets to those inside them
