subconscious predators

subconscious predators

A Poem by the tipsy writer

Dreams are great imitators

Of experiences and fears

Ramming down barriers

To roads once firmly blocked

With their big

NO TRESSPASSING sign

Forgotten.

How you wish it would stay forgotten.

But no.

Reality walks a fine line with

All that is surreal

Delivering that big heart thumping

JOLT of fight or flight

But it’s always flight

Or rather falling

Into unbridled terror.

Terror bringing endless nights

And reassurances

It’s okay.

ITS OKAY.

Yet, it still remains

Sourcing from something primal

Something ancient

From deep in memory

Despite your

ITS OKAY’s

Time is a gift

Of rescinding emotion

But

Nightmares

Lurk in waiting

Subconscious  predators

I see a good poem as a concept that enables me to try it on like a new suit of clothes as I set out to decode the authors intentions.
Your work certainly accommodates my taste in everyday attire.
Thank you.
