The Veil

The Veil

A Chapter by TL Boehm
"

inspired by Mark's "A Journey"

"

Before you tore the veil

And the scales fell from my eyes

Was I a child of the lesser light

Burned out echoes in ashen skies

The thundered rush of blood

Was I deafened by the lies

Before you cast the crown

Set diamonds sparkling at my brow

Did I crave the baser things

Found in the here and the now

Wrapped up in my thicker skin

Screaming where and why and how?

If you give perfect pleasure

Why would I require pain

What purpose does the deluge serve

For seed drowned out by rain

Why would I surrender Heaven

Just to go through Hell again

I can’t unwork the simple truth

Of a destiny unearned

If I step into the fire

I know I will be burned

Sometimes the seminal lesson

Is the lesson left unlearned

Author's Note

TL Boehm
there are several schools of though about our existence. Did we exist before we were born here? Do our souls continue on? Do we lather rinse and repeat til the water runs clear? I found Mark's poem fascinating and was inspired to write something. What ever the truth is - I personally struggle with the thought that I "chose" my situation so I could learn something from it. And if I did - Darwin gave us hominids too much cred. Here is Mark's Poem http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/Insomnius/1261233/

"If you give perfect pleasure
Why would I require pain "
I believe no-one learn the easy way. We must fall down a few times to learn to appreciate the good things. A strong ending to a outstanding poetry.

Thank you!
I struggle with the thought of a blueprint to be honest...why the hell would I choose...this life? lol Then, through time, I have learned lessons, as such, why I was meant to lose people, why things didn't make sense until time decided I was ready to understand the information...sometimes, we don't understand pain or sorrow or any emotion, really...yet, they all have their place...helps me to focus on universal connection when I doubt or need answers or get sorrowful or feel pain.

Poignant piece love, have a lovely weekend! x

thank you and nice to meet you.
The mystery of life and what's it all about, the bane of so many eminent philosophers for millennia before and doubtless to come !

A thought provoking, well penned poetic write on the subject, sublime TL !

Thank you so much Tom.
oh wow. This is perfection. I'm choked up reading it. It's all incredibly good, these four lines hit me hard though:

What purpose does the deluge serve
For seed drowned out by rain
Why would I surrender Heaven
Just to go through Hell again

Honey, YOU are a very talented writer!

thank you so much Pryde. that was actually the bit that was the roughest - just wouldn't flow right
first thought was "the road less traveled bye"..second thought was"just as you ..If I chose"my situation"...but dear heart even if You and I believe that nothing is created "But by God"...only things altered pose as.... "Pain"..deeply insightful...I have come to the conclusion ...as Paul did that .."without Love...my words are as a clanging Cymble."So however we proceed it is in the name of "Love"...I am taught by Life and the universe.Showing and feeling "Love and compassion "...is now my goal I hear you saying..and I applaud! thank you Larry! Paul was a wise man and that is the way to go. Proceeding in love.
The great unknown that we seek is ever beyond our grasp; and those who may know, who have already passed over, aren't talking. I think it's a matter of finding comfort in your faith, whatever faith that may be; but sometimes, it takes a lifetime to come to that place of certainty for yourself.

Your words are thought provoking, and the poem has a nice fluidity to it.
