Fast Food Society

Fast Food Society

A Poem by Nisreen

The clocks ticking
Minds left by some screen

The lines we push
Hearts we shove

The gratifying meal
Wrapped up in sulfate

The fast wires
Reaching you anytime of day

A caffeine version
of papers flying in the air

Speed dating
Tindering along

The LOL of our BRB
even words have shortened

No slow down signs
in this madness of fast food souls

the malnutrition
of the heart

Very true coming from somebody that is a student at a school. Alot of the students often go to fast food restaurants, a few saying that it's awkward to go to a better restaurant as you have to wait for the food, since they think it's awkward with their friends. Also they usually say alot of the time how they just aren't feeling up to school, until their GCSE's are almost upon them and they start missing those days.

This is a very accurate depiction of modern day society.

We live in this crazy, rapidly moving world. We talk fast. We eat fast. We marry fast. We divorce fast. Everyone is in such a hurry, that we really are in danger of not stopping to smell the roses, until it is all to late. We are all guilty of it. It can take all of one's resolve, to just stop and take a long deep breath and take a close look at what our world has to offer.
This is well written as always, Nisreen. I just had to have a little chuckle to myself about your line in the poem referring to our use of shortened words. LOL.....hmmm. That is something that is strangely familiar to me lately.......i can't quite put my finger on it.....;)

so true, nothing is good enough if we cant have or do it at the click of a button and have it magically appear before us, we are now laziminded people, spoilt, losing our abilty to spell, punctuation...what's that!! who needs real friends when all these virtual ones are out there? even ordering our food from intrnet...who needs exercise and socialisation aye ....great poem and topic
