Truth

Truth

A Poem by Actress999
"

I was upset, so I started writing. This is what came out.

"
What is lying?
They say it is not telling the truth.
They say it is wrong.
But how can that be true when our lives are centered on lies?
When you were little, your parents told you Santa was real. That the Easter Bunny would leave you candy.
As you grew up, people would tell you they didn't get you anything, then show up with a gift.
You became a teen, and your boyfriend tells you he loves you. You break up a week later.
When you become an adult, your boss tells you you're his best employee. You are fired soon after.
And when you are retired and old, you pray to someone you've never seen, talked to, or heard, just because someone told you he was there.
So if lying is wrong, why do we do it in our everyday lives?
If the earth settled on only the truth, would be have so many conflicts?
Or is lying itself a lie?
And we all live but one lie that calls itself the truth?
