NO-THING

NO-THING

A Poem by ...

To my "daddy" I was "drippings"
Ya, I s**t you not.
A squirt for someone else to raise,
or not...he didn't care either way.
I was no reason to give a damn.
Not a second thought.

To my mother I was a REASON,
To show his a*s up.
To say, "hey b*****d I did it"
She did it.
I'm raised.
Had everything I needed
but encouragement and hugs.
How do I know he said that?
Mom wanted me to know.

To my husband I was one of many women
he abused along his way.
Raised two of his many children
He never saw fit to help raise

To many others I was a thought or two...
maybe three,
but thoughts are fleeting.
Life to busy
to bother with the nothing...
that's me.

To YOU I was interesting...
for a while,
but already unimportant...disposable,
and placed in the cordial hello category
for kindness sake
kindness pays me no mind

I am many Things.
all these things I've been.
all these things I've become.
Some-thing to rape
Some-thing to beat
Some-thing to cheat
Some-thing to use
Some-thing to lie to
Some-thing to leave
Some-thing to forget...

I am many THINGS to many people,
but I'm here to tell you,I am NO-THING...
at all

A powerful poem dear Poet.
"I am many Things.
all these things I've been.
all these things I've become.
Some-thing to rape
Some-thing to beat
Some-thing to cheat
Some-thing to use
Some-thing to lie to
Some-thing to leave
Some-thing to forget..."
People who abuse, I believe will pay with bad karma here or in hell. You re not nothing. You are everything. Thank you dear Poet for sharing the thought provoking poetry.

yeah wow - ! Raw and real - even though these words are laced with hurt I am drawn to this piece, it seems unguarded, kinda like 'well it don't matter what life throws now, experience has taught me how to deal.'

on the flip side - that second last line - well if you flip it as I said and turn it into a positive well right there you have learnt a lesson many will never ever encounter - for I am no-thing too - just perhaps an illusory blink in the vastness of it all ... :)

this is such a strong write and I am gald it crossed my path - thanks chick X

hahaha. well how cool are you...not a question, but a statement, my dear :))) Thanx for the sunshime
And yet with all that you've been through, you have a gift for expressing yourself in a creative and detailed way. More than likely better than the ones you speak of. You have not given up like many do when no other alternative is within reach.

Through this poem you have made a statement with a strength and dignity they cannot take away. You are strong with a resolve to move forward and you are an example of courage as well. Nicely done Lynn.

After reading this, the honor is all mine. :)
Emotion packed with a capital E! You really took us on a ride of a life, not a life anyone should have to live, i hope you wrote this as a work and not from experience, that would be terrible for you but if that should be true then i applaud your skill as a writer to take a negative situation and turn it into this positive poem, there's much in this work that says you are a writer of great quality, bravo my friend :)

Thank you for your kind words :)
I second Kelly's comment. You have taken the power back with this brave and honest write. No one can tell you that you are nothing - no one has that power over you. Bravo for the strength to put this anger into words.

A staggering piece, Lynn!

a strong and serious write... full of the hurt and anger that marked your life.

i like the power expressed in this...no matter what anyone did to the speaker...she is a person, and deserves immense respect for becoming what she is despite all of those "nothing" men.

Tank you Jacob
You are somebody and you are something and that is why God created you and us. Let not the naysayers or family tell you otherwise or put you down. If they did, try to forgive them and see your value in God and the people you made a difference in their life or they made a positive influence in your life. Wow. This was powerful. I truly sympathize with you...Excellent...:)..............
