Patience

Patience

A Poem by Ricky Campbell
"

I'm not very patient

"
Everyone keeps telling me patience is key
But I never seem to listen
I lie in my bed unable to rest because I am impatient
I am eager for the future, and do not wish to wait
If life had a remote control, the fast forward button would be worn down
All I want to do is know
But we aren't allowed to right away
I also rush through almost everything
Anything you can imagine, even the simplest of things
I hope efficiency follows in my footsteps
Or else my work is a complete mess
Most of this feels forced, because I want to accomplish my dreams
But everything will come in due time
Well, will it really?
I jitter and I jolt, my body is like a four year old on caffeine
And my mind follows in its footsteps
I can not bear to wait
I never would if I had the choice
I show up right on time, not a minute early or late
Oh boy do I hate to wait
I need to learn how to calm and slow down
Or I feel I will drive myself mad
Everything will come together
The puzzle doesn't come in the box already solved,
And you wont solve it right away
I must learn how to wait
I need to be patient.

Ricky, If this poem is an indication of what comes next, I am certainly willing to wait (no poetic-pun intended). You have a nice, fluid writing style (at least in this write...you can change that style with every piece) that shows a lot of promise. Your flow is good, your wordplay even better..."a puzzle doesn't come in the box already solved..." is a captivating and quotable line. Very nice write, sir! Keep it up. take care...dan

this is really good
i love the duality of it
it's like you consider the need to change
but you're not sure if you really need to

"But everything will come in due time
Well, will it really? "

Who really knows how to live properly
Everyone says patience is key
But everyone also says "Life is short"

I agree that you have to learn that, because at some points in our lives we have to be patient in order to pass the test. that writing was veery well written, and it had an easy flow. Well done Ricky. Keep it up :)

I jitter and I jolt, my body is like a four year old on caffeine...Very good line, great use of words. Being with this age group consistently, I immediately imagined my kiddos running around hyped up on coffee LOL. Great visual! Patience is a virtue, they say. It is not one of mine either :-)
Good Poem!!

When you get a few years onto your age, you will be praying for God to slow the time down. Believe me, time will pass faster than you want it to when your hair is grey and your kids and grandchildren can get to the corner down the block faster than you. Enjoy your youth. Valentine

You can live for a certain tim in overdrive, but trust me if I say that one day the burnout is looking over your shoulder. Then you learn to slow down, to enjoy and to walk in another way. Very good contemplating text you have written. :) Rudi

Ricky, I already reviewed this one (see below). But hey, one day before you know it you'll wake up and realize you're 50 years old with a mortgage and kids in college and you'll wonder where the time went. And about being on time: my dad was not the kind of dad who doled out words of wisdom before he passed away when I was 14, but one of his favorite rules was: It's better to be 2 hours early than 2 minutes late. I've lived by that rule and, even though I may not know what's going to happen next, I'm always on time. So I've got THAT going for me. 8^) see ya...dan

Good work Ricky. Those are good qualities to have... even though everyone says to slow down and be patient some of the best leaders are those that go out and get what they want when they want it. Good job in this piece.

Yes, everything will come in due time....I like the message in your writing.....in fact, I am much older than you and I have to tell myself the same thing all the time...but for different reasons. At 16 years of age, you've got plenty of time to accomplish your goals...Thanks for the writing. Good message. Dale
