Eventually

Eventually

A Poem by David Elijah

Haven't slept and it's morning time
Already past 5
And I'm waitin on the sunrise.
At 4 the streets were empty but now
Cars pass by
And I'm still waitin on the sunrise.

The wind blew out my cigarette
Just light it up again
While waitin for the sunrise.
I want to see something
Beautiful again
All I got is the sunrise.

I've been standing here with red eyes
Like two stop signs
But I'll be relieved once I see the light.
In the campus parking lot
But I don't have class
I'm only here to see the sight.

Lacking in decent things to sing about
I've got no choice
But to have eyes on the east side glued.
It's getting brighter by the minute but
The sun ain't left the ground
Has the sun left me behind too.

Oh there it is
Oh there it is
I see it climbing up those trees
Oh there it is
Why did I doubt
That God's light shines eventually.
Oh for Your glory in praise I'll sing.
Oh for Your glory in praise I'll sing.
