Not a Writer

A Poem by Kitten
"

A poem about a terrible writer with writer's block. This writer is me.

"
Gazing at my pen,
as my paper accompanies it's side,
I have a terrible curse of writer's block,
I look upon the unexplored paper
 destined for a tale,
yet my mind is bleak and very stale,
I ponder for countless hours
waiting for a spark,
a story or a song that will
set something apart,
a sort of inspiration that
never turns upon me,
and I tell myself,
I am not a writer and
 I never will be,
yet as the time drags on and on,
my imagination growing dim and thin,
a revelation comes over me,
I have already finished it,
a small yet perfect po-em,

I've recently started writing my first novel and I keep finding myself in this exact same situation. Great poem. :)

actually grammatically the poem is fine except in second line...should be "its side"

but this is pretty true of all poets...when we get a strong case of writer's block we wonder...are we really poets? are we writers? or is it just that we pretend to be...and when the words won't come...the reality hits us.

it is easy to get thoughts like this...but the block really is common..and it just means the words are hesitating to come.

You have the revelation.
This means that you are a writer with divine blessing.
Loved your words:
"I ponder for countless hours
waiting for a spark,"

Thanks a lot.
I will share with you in messages.
How horrible is that frustration of sitting there and nothing coming out? you've captured that really well. It's funny how quickly nothing can turn into something!

You certainly ARE a writer. The flow of thoughts and words is great and the rhyming is good too. I enjoyed this. We all experience writer's block now and then. Just keep putting your thoughts on paper and soon it will be easier. Lydi**

You are welcome...:)...........................
Welcome! Your first piece made me laugh. These are my suggestions for you young writer: First, be yourself. You need not to worry about structure, cadence, rhyme or none of that stuff. Just get familiar with your writing. Second, don't wait for divine inspiration. Sometimes I start with a single thought. Then the story takes a life of it's own. it does not matter if it makes sense or not. Just write about things you like and don't like. Poetry needs not be sublime. It does not even need to rhyme! Inspiration can come from anywhere! A dream, a sight, a song, a feeling or an object. Let yourself float on the river as a leaf. Let yourself go. And see where it leads you... Good luck!
