Paste On a Smile

Paste On a Smile

A Poem by Weeping Willow

Paste on a smile

Go through the day

Each step feels like a mile

You never mean what you say

Whenever they ask

You say that you're fine

Hide behind your mask

Each thing you say is a pre-written line

You play a part full of life

But you're really full of pain

As soon as you're home, take out your knife

Suddenly that happy girl is slain

The tears mix with blood

Till you don't know which is which

Your thoughts move with the speed of mud

Your greatest wish is for an off-switch

To turn off your mind

And turn off the pain

You want relief of any kind

Before you go completely insane

It's time to go to dinner

Put on a sweatshirt to cover your arms

The mask covers up the face of a sinner

Now you won't set off any alarms

Just one last finishing touch

Don't forget

Never forget:

Paste on a smile
