Memories

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Sometimes we lose the one we love

"

                           Memories
Memories of you lay siege to my mind,
Ribbons of longings my heart doth entwine,
Away you have flown with winged ease,
As my soul searches for you in each wafting breeze.

Gentle assurances bear no burden,
As the space between us widens,
Eloquent silence ravages my phyche,
Even as I cling to your cherished memory.

Deep within the folds of my tortured existence,
Tendrils of regret garner me no chance,
To  traverse the void between us two,
For I am here and there are you.

Chaotic dreams bring your fevered embrace,
But when I awaken I am torn from this place,
And reality intrudes bearing reasonless rhyme,
To each their own space and own time.

The comparisons you have made are just awsm. The poem hits you instantly and finds a place in your heart. Truly, seperation is something we don't look fore to and the worst, we talk to dat person on phone or simthing, want to meet him but when we happen to meet, its kinda awkward and no one knows what to talk about. Wonderful write.

Gentle assurances bear no burden,
As the space between us widens,

this is very interesting... there is no weight or cargo in the assurance and the evidence is ample as the distance between the two lengthens. i think what caught me the most is the difference in my personal contexts of 'assurance' and 'burden'... assurance being something pleasing and hoped for and burdens being laborious... the uniqueness of the verse confounded me at first but intrigued me to keep reading... i think that's what good poetry ought to do, but what do i know ? :)

Thank you so much .Your kind words are always appreciated :)
I have lost too...
Many have.
You pen this loss in a way to show the frantic reaching across a disconnection beyond your reach. I feel sympathetic toward this emotion and this state of mind. I have lived this hell too...

Today, I am not feeling this emotion and I am not living in this state of mind. I can think of the losses and still give myself to this moment in time. I can only do anything of value in this moment. If I waste it reaching backwards or forwards I drop the time in my possession and everyone who I could have been of service to suffers the loss of my "stuck" state of mind.

There is no judgment expressing this feeling. There is no law about your value as a person if you never find the ability to fully be in the now again. Yet it is something you can have. You can gift yourself a perfect day by gifting yourself one perfect moment after another.

Sending you much love and thanking you for sharing this heart cry so others can know they do not suffer alone.

' And reality intrudes bearing reasonless rhyme, ~ To each their own space and own time.' - this is such a heartbreaking but finely written poem and those phrases really reach inside me. Distance makes for coldness, a space that even love can't always cross.
