Caged

Caged

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Everything you ever wanted.

"

                 The cage of your life

I see it ,that hunted look on your face,

I recognize it,

Like so many times before,

You're looking for a way out,

Clawing at this cage that is your life.

I can't soothe you,

Because I am your jailer,

In your eyes ,I put you there,

And you will escape,

You have before.

And I will search all your favoured haunts,

And you won't be there,

I will wonder ......is this the time,

When freedom would mean everything,

Is this the time ......when I will mean nothing.

I try so hard to understand your panic,

At having everything you ever wanted,

And being stifled by it,

Till you can't think, for wanting out,

And I ...........can't.

A thought. Why can't some people just let themselves be happy?

Who knows. It is possible some people keep thinking they might miss the thrill of a lifetime while they are living it already. Hard to be grateful for what you have when you think something better may come along.
Or perhaps it is fear. Fear of letting go that last little bit and having your heart handed to you on a platter.

True that Kit Kat.Thank you :)
Hard to keep someone where they don't want to be or feel like they don't deserve it. I think you've captured it perfectly and it's so good! Awesome :)

could be that they do not feel worthy of having it, or maybe they think if she wants me there must be something wrong with her, lol. who kows why we can never be happy with having everything, maybe some folks like to have that feeling of having earned something for it to feel valuable instead of stifling.
definitely a write to make you think about life. wonderful.

This one really hit home for me for a number of reasons. I love the entire poem and the last verse is perfect - I could feel your frustration.

Thank you AA :)
Wow, such emotion; very nicely written; highlights the lack of communication and the very different views of the same topic two people can have!

I forget too; maybe how unbelievably smart I am? No, that can't be it!

No, probably not; 'doh!'
Fear of happiness and success.... Humanity is defined mostly by it misery. Baser instinctual emotion will always prevail over more complex emotions such as love and happiness which are higher emotional responses caused by chemical reactions rather than chemical reactions caused by emotional responses such as the fight or flight theory. All together an excellent poem! Luv it! :)
