A Million Voices within your mind

A Million Voices within your mind

A Poem by Waqas Rabbani

War and famine
were a million voices
within your heart
writhing and twisting
within the dark

heavenly drops
of sorrow's dew
splashed upon a
withered brow
as i watched from afar

tempests of global concern
trying to see through
the rubble and destruction
while the aged machination,
brings rueful choking

submlimely twisting
the dagger in humanity's side
my uncaring silence
makes them bleed outward
and they color my hand red

no regard for the dead
sometime there is silence
for the inhumanity of it
to lead the human soul
down dark paths, question why

makes me want to be a farmer
to make some sense, in creation
evisceration needs balance
in the global scheme of things
i think of dew drops on leaves

it calms my soul
even through tempests rage
and sunlight glinting
off a car mirror
looks like a sniper lens

in a distant land
taking aim at someone
who does not deserve
to bleed on shattered stone
in ruin and desolation

caterpillars without suits don't lie
like some caterpillars in suits
who live only to eat
perhaps they don't know
they can't remain that way forever

change affects us all
the mighty and the small
perhaps in differing magnitude
big rocks make big ripples
but they also sink faster

i let this darkness coil
the clickety clack of the keys
the sublime ruins in the halls
of my mind, unvisited
by my waking being

How sad is it
i only put pen to paper to breathe
but i lie, it's not paper i write on
see how prodigiously i lie
it's because i can't share

rows and rows of wooden boards
diagonally spaced in darkness
have you ever seen something
so random yet so profound
i can see each detail in perfection

why are secrets
revealed in madness
is the normal brain
not meant to comprehend
the grand plans of creation

A powerful poem. You danced on many subjects. Trying to gather all the misery and the pain of our world can leave us with madness. Trying to understand the reason for murder and why men do what they do. Leave us in a deadly silence with no answers. Just more questions. Thank you for sharing the amazing poem. This is a type of poem that need a lot of coffee and time to discuss.
