ItA Poem by Vinayak Satheesh
Thud Thud
The books fell Thud Thud The boxes fell But it wasn't there The shelf was almost bare But I couldn't find it there There was a table near I saw it there But I didn't care for it there I wanted it here I searched for it here Glass jar broke Bled, my fingers Hurt, my fingers Frisked, my fingers But it wasn't there Of course Cans, coins, cards The shelf pulled out many things I thought I saw it for a moment But I was wrong Then again I always thought I was wrong The shelf began to sing Things flew out Beauty after Beauty Everything except it Shining Everything was shining Bright Then it beckoned me But it was from there What good could it do? From there! The pain rose But the fragrance kept me there Searching It flew at me from there I waved it aside But it didn't break It went back there There it sat Waiting I gave up for the day I went to bed Bleeding Tomorrow I will try again The shelf knew Did the shelf care? There it sat Waiting © 2021 Vinayak Satheesh
