self harm

Okay so the only reason I wrote this poem was to raise awareness towards self harm and how it’s not always directly slicing away at your skin. I don’t really like this poem a lot but anyway...

crossing the street
without looking both ways

laying on the beach
without sunscreen

taking another shot
whilst standing
at the edge of the building

taking another sniff
from a stranger outside

eating until you puke
or not eating at all

compressing
words
tears
and life

self harm isn’t just
Lying in a pool of blood
with slit wrists.
