This was the number burnt into her arm

as her grandmother was telling her

that every thing would be all right.

Don`t cry she would say every thing

will be okay tomorrow will be a better day

as they were herded toward the train

Poor Mr. Kurtz was shot for not boarding

just do as they say my grandmother would say

tomorrow every thing will be ok

But I could see the fear in her eye`s

often I would see her cry,we were

separated from my parents at the last camp

Grandmother says we will be together soon they won`t tell us where we are going but it`s cold on this train

we have no food to eat but grandmother

has some bread hid in her coat it`s food she would say

When we arrived at the camp it was a nightmare

some people had no clothes and they looked as if

they were being starved to death and they

huddled around each other to keep from freezing

A smile came over grandmothers face when she

saw my father and brother but my momma

wasn`t there my grandmother and father cried

they would beat us and kill the old people

don`t worry about me she would say

They killed my father and brother they took me away

my grandmother was put in the gas chamber

I heard the people say

But one morning soldiers came in with food

and blankets just like my grandmother would say

but she never got to see this day...

That was very sad story, but you crafted it in a very beautiful way. May I just suggest you use punctuation to make it easier. This was very touching . I loved this work . keep it up my friend :)

I met a holocaust survivor once. I have so much respect for them. It truly was a horrible event.

Okay thanks
The spirit of the Jewish people is to be commended … they came out of such a horror with love in their heart and not vengeance … there is the lesson … a very poignant and feeling write. Bravo.

Very touching and respectful. It's our duty to never forget such tragedy, I admire your bravery in honouring its victims this way.

Hate...such evil. I remember reading the Diary of Anne Frank in school then we all visited Auschwitz. It was something i will never forget. A lot of my fiends grandparents had been part of this horrific slaughter! A great tribute to all those lives lost!

thank you for the comment sereena,it still goes on today around the world
Hatred is bred from fear and fear allows us to debase whole nations - once you reduce the value of a human to less than that of an animal it allows people to do things to others that they would not do if they looked on them as fellow human beings.
This period of history should never be forgotten.

james I think half or better of the world is evil
Ohhh......the Jewish genocide has always deeply effected me. The stories and movies concerning the holocaust have robbed me of sleep for many nights. I recently watched Schindler's List and the images wouldn't get out of my mind for days.

A beautiful poem, from a child's heart. This one is flooded with innocence and one can smell the fear undergone by him/her while we read this. Amazing poetry Wordman. This one goes to my library.
